Home > Templestay Guide > Participant Guidelines
1. Arrive on Time
Please try to arrive by 2pm on the appointed day, and no later than 4pm.
Templestay is usually a 24-hour program. Participants may leave anytime after
     the noontime meal offering.
2. Bring Essentials
Razor, toothbrush, etc., comfortable and seasonal clothes and footwear
Warm clothing may be essential for pre-dawn programs regardless of season.
3. Quarters
Separate large rooms for male and female participants, and families should use
     these as well.
In some instances, private quarters may be arranged ahead of time for
     individuals and families upon request.
Lights go out at 9:30, so please refrain from moving around after that.
4. Clothing
Most temples provide comfortable uniforms for the program, but bring your own
in case there is a shortage. Bring comfortable, season clothes for children since
there are no uniforms for them.
Refrain from wearing skimpy clothings.
5. Program
Morning chanting is at 3:30 or 4am, depending on the temple. Since this is the
start of the day, all participants are urged to attend with an open heart. If this is
impossible, kindly consult a program official ahead of time.
Please take part in all activities as a community.
6. Photos, Videos, etc.
No photos or filming allowed in a Buddha Hall
Photos and filming are allowed in most other facilities. If in doubt, contact
     related official.
7. Environment
Temples are cultural treasures, so please help to conserve and protect them.
No smoking or drinking permitted.
