Buddhist Martial Arts is a traditional form of practice in the quest for mental and physical enlightenment that involves the purification of the body, the spirit, and breathing. In striving for Buddhist enlightenment, a practitioner should necessarily train both the body and the mind equally so that they harmonize totally in the quest. Such practice began in India in the same way as Vipassana meditation and yoga, and it has been transmitted through the ages in Korea as a traditional Buddhist form of practice.
Training in Buddhist Martial Arts is a recognized way for contemporary people to release mental and physical stresses that can lead to disease and it is a great aid in restoring balance throughout the body. It is a method for purifying and balancing human trikarma - phyical, verbal and mental - so that one can eventually achieve enlightenment.
Golgulsa Temple, Gapsa Temple, and Jikjisa Temple provide the Buddhist martial arts program.
