Buddhist Ceremony

'Yebul' in Korean / Twice a day at Korean temples, during early dawn and evening, people pay their respect to the Buddha. The ceremony begins with the playing of the Dharma bell. It is a time of prayers offered for the well-being of all living creatures, a time that reminds one of the universal mysteries wholly present in all sentient beings. / *Participation in Buddhist Ceremony is not mandatory for relaxation templestay visitors at Naesosa.

'Dancheong' is the multicolored decorative paintwork on wooden architecture. The main purpose of this paintwork is to preserve the architecture permantly and to make up for the flaw of the wood. It is also a way of expressing the dignity of palace or buddha hall. The mostly common patterns are various flowers, and birds or instruments are also found. Nowadays those designs are also found in the drum, accessory, fashion, and building interior etc. Therefore templestay participants would have time of understanding Korean traditional culture and Buddhist arts through Dancheong Painting.
