Cham-Seon ( Seon meditation )

Seon meditation is to cut off all thoughts. Through Cham-Seon, you can learn mindfulness and concentration. Cham-Seon is the important method of Korean Buddhist practice. We hope you look for your true nature with concentration and observation through learning the basic of Cham-Seon at the head temple of Seon sect, Bongeunsa.

Da-Seon (Tea Ceremony)

It is one of the meditations to practice of mindfulness and concentration through brewing and drinking tea. Tea and meditation are the same that is why it is called Da-Seon-il-mil. When you drink tea, your five senses work at the same time. Your eyes see the color, ears hear the sound of water, nose smells the fragrance, the tongue tastes the flavor of the tea and your hands feel the warmth of the cup.

Temple tour

Temple tour is not only visiting the Buddhist temple but experiencing Korean Buddhism and culture. Korean Buddhist temples have been the bedrock on which brilliant Korean culture has been blooming over the past 1700 years since Buddhism was first introduced to Korea. Various Buddhist cultural properties including the structure, architecture, sculpture, art, craft, Buddhist painting and Dancheong (temple paintwork) contain the teachings of the Buddha.

What to prepare

* A uniform ( a vest and pants ) is provided during the stay. * What to bring: toiletries, personal water bottle, loose clothes for sleep, extra t-shirt, sneakers, and socks. *Remember that a sleeveless shirt or flip-flops are not recommended.

  • 1.The Temple is a place for community life, so please always be considerate of others. We should reduce talking to have ample time for self reflection and so as not to disturb others.

    2. Alcohol and cigarettes are prohibited.

    3. Please greet with hapjang whenever you see a monk or pass by the Buddha halls.

    4. Please wash your own dishes after meal.

    5. Please make sure your room and bathroom are clean before leaving. 6. You can throw your trash in the garbage cans behind the building.

    6. Please wear your uniforms throughout your entire stay and return them to the office when you leave.

Way to Temple


Take the subway line NO 1 and get off at ByeongGeom Station.
After coming out through the rear exit of the station, you should take a bus NO 34, 34-1, 46, or 60 for about 15 minutes.
