Program Information

intensive seon meditation program

The traditional technique of Korean Buddhism, seon-meditation, has been practiced from great master to generations.

This method of studying with a buzzword is a traditional trainning of representing Korean Buddhism and performing and devoting themselves to Buddhism.

This is called the "whadoo", for example, "Is this?" is my constant awakening and fundamental question.

Where did I come from? And where will you go?
You are constantly asking yourself with these questions.
And also, this is also a way to observe "something" that asks such questions.

This program is a intensive course program, and conduct a international crew for long time meditation or seon-meditation for over six months.

It is accompanied by a Buddhist head-monk in this temple who gives a basic dedication for eight hours a day with seon meditation.

If you are interested in studying Korea's representative practice, Seon-meditation, you can select this program and make a reservation our web site.

Once a month, we get a reservation for less than 20 people.

Thank you.

Cham-Seon ( Seon meditation )

Seon meditation is to cut off all thoughts. Through Cham-Seon, you can learn mindfulness and concentration. Cham-Seon is the important method of Korean Buddhist practice. We hope you look for your true nature with concentration and observation through learning the basic of Cham-Seon at the head temple of Seon sect, Bongeunsa.

Da-Seon (Tea Ceremony)

It is one of the meditations to practice of mindfulness and concentration through brewing and drinking tea. Tea and meditation are the same that is why it is said Da-Seon-il-mil. When you drink tea, your five senses work at the same time. Your eyes see the color, ears hear the sound of water, nose smells the fragrance, the tongue tastes the flavor of the tea and your hands feel the warmth of the cup.

A day of the temple begins with Yebool. Yebool is a ceremony that we pay respect to the Sakyamuni Buddha, Bodhisattvas and all his diciples. It affords a chance for self-reflection of practice. In the Buddhist chanting, it contains that Buddhists take refuge in the Buddha, Buddha’s teachings and Shangha (the community of Buddhist monks and nuns), and wish to be a buddha through practice constantly. While you are listening to Buddhist chanting, you will feel calm and purified mind
