Program Information

[2020] A little comma in your mind

This program is for those who want to have a good rest in a tranquil environment. This has no fixed schedule, but participants are required to take part in Buddhist chanting ceremonies, and be on time for meals. Staying in Jikjisa Temple surrounded by beautiful nature may give you a chance to find inner peace and harmonious ways of living with others.

Evening Buddhist Ceremony

The Buddhist ceremony is held two times a day, in the early morning and evening, that you show your respect to the Sakyamuni Buddha, Bodhisattvas and all his diciples. During the Buddhist chanting, you take refuge in the three jewels of Buddhism which are the Buddha, the teachings of the Buddha and Sangha (the community of Buddhist monks and nuns), and you wish to become a Buddha one day through Buddhist practice. While you are listening to Buddhist chanting, your mind may become calm and purified.


Temple Tour

Temple tour is not only to look around the temple complex, but to learn about Korean Buddhism and culture. Korean Buddhist temples have been the bedrock on which Korean culture has been blooming over the past 1700 years since Buddhism was first introduced to Korea. Various Buddhist cultural properties show the teachings of the Buddha through their structure, architecture, sculpture, art, craft, Buddhist paintings and Dancheong (Temple Paintwork).

* Temple uniform will be provided during the stay.
* Bring the followings: toiletries, towels, comfortable clothes for sleep, extra t-shirts, sneakers, socks & water bottle.
* Sleeveless shirts, short skirt or pants are not allowed.

Regulation

* Follow the rules and regulations of the temple.
* Keep your mobile phone on silent mode during your stay.
* Smoking & alcohol consumption at the temple complex is prohibited.
* Eating breakfast is highly recommended.
* Do not wear perfume.


Way to Temple

From Gimcheon Station or Gimcheon Bus Terminal To Jikjisa Temple

* Take a no.11 or no. 111 local bus and get off at the last stop(Jikjisa Bus Stop). It takes about 35 to 40 minutes.

* It takes 20 minutes from the Jikjisa Bus Stop to the Templestay office on foot.

* Most local buses from Jikjisa Bus stop go to Gimcheon Station and Gimchon Bus Terminal at 20-minute interval.
