My fellow Buddhists and honored guests, We sincerely welcome you to Chukseosa, a temple with a history spanning over a millennium. Chukseosa was founded more than 1,300 years ago by the revered Master Uisang in the 13th year (673 AD) of King Munmu of Silla. Legend has it that upon discovering this site, Master Uisang was so delighted that he danced for three days. Nestled at the foothill of Munsu Mountain, Chukseosa is surrounded by the stunning Geumgangsong pines, a cozy forest, unique rock formations, and an expansive view that naturally inspires awe. This temple has long been revered as an ideal place for practice and prayer, symbolizing the sharp wisdom of the Bodhisattva Munsu. At the Munsu Seonwon, our monks engage in 14 hours of practice daily for nine months. Devotees participate in seven-day retreats during the first and third weeks of each month and undergo rigorous all-night practices on the third Saturday of every month. Our Temple Stay program, titled 'Rest, Rest, Rest,' emphasizes spiritual performance and rejuvenation. The Buddha's Jinshinsari (sarira) was brought from Myanmar to 112 departments, enhancing the temple's spiritual tone and inspiring faith among novice believers. Our cherished project, the 'Amita Buddhist Triad Image,' was created to offer eternal rest. As the saying goes, "If you pray at Chukseosa Temple, one wish will come true." Here, you can engage in various spiritual programs, including the 1,000-day prayer, Bogunggido, and Temple Stay. We aspire for Chukseosa to be a sanctuary of salvation and a source of good fortune for all who visit. With deep karmic ties, may you transcend and become like Buddha. May you be blessed with eternal happiness and joy. Thank you.
