Golgulsa Temple is located amid the natural beauty of Hamwolsan Mountain, just outside of historic Gyeongju City.
The temple runs Templestay programs 365 days a year, and it is possible to stay for a month or even longer.
Learning Seonmudo is also a unique experience at Golgulsa Temple.
Seonmudo is a form of moving meditation and martial art. It emphasizes the harmony of body and mind through observing one's breathing.
It is a traditional Korean Buddhist martial art that traces its origins back over 1,000 years. Relaxed and meditative, Seonmudo incorporates qigong movements that help us cultivate an awareness of our own internal energies, while leading us toward a greater sensitivity of the external energies flowing all around us.
It can also be considered a form of yoga that opens the energy points of the body while relaxing the mind.
It also incorporates the profound stillness of sitting meditation.
At Golgulsa Temple, you can also experience other activities during a Templestay, such as Sitting and walking meditation, Seonmudo, Archery, Buddhist Chanting, Practice of 108 prostrations, Dharma Talk with a Buddhist monk over tea, and the healthy simplicity of temple cuisine.
Optional activities include Archery and going to the beach for meditation and Seonmudo training. These require a small amount of additional fees.
